Everybody has challenges in their life and times where some extra help or guidance makes a difference. A fresh perspective and specific expertise can ease a significant struggle. That’s what coaches do. A counselor or therapist has special training in the way our mind works, and why we think, feel, and do the things we do.
Counselors give general counsel and guidance, usually for short-term problems. Therapists have more training and help when we have patterns of behavior that interfere with our functioning and relationships.
There are several types of counselors, and they can be licensed or unlicensed (depending on the state):
Guidance Counselors
Pastoral Counselors
Marriage and Family Counselors
Mental Health Counselors
Biblical Counselors

Psychiatrist
Psychologist
Social Worker
