WHY NOT: Five Reasons to NEVER Take Drugs, Not Even Once

1.  Some drugs can kill you the first time you use them.

2.  Some drugs are immediately addicting.

3.  Drugs affect your self-control; you may do something on them that you’ll regret later.

4.  Some drugs when taken only once can make you very sick or cause permanent injury.

5.  Taking drugs doesn’t ever solve problems; it only makes things worse.

HOW CAN I TELL IF A FRIEND OR LOVED ONE IS USING CLUB DRUGS?

If you suspect someone of using MDMA (ecstasy, “E”, Adam, Eve, hug drug), Rohypnol (roofies, roche, forget-mill pill), Ketamine (Special K, “K”, cat valium, jet, purple), GHB (boy, liquid ecstasy, “G”), LSD (acid, boomers, yellow subs), or other club drugs , the National Clearinghouse for Alcohol and Drug Information suggests you look for these symptoms:

  • Short-term memory problems
  • Dizziness
  • Fainting
  • Loss of physical coordination
  • Confusion
  • Depression
  • Sleep problems
  • Chills
  • Sweats

You can also look for Rave (club drug party) paraphernalia:

  • Baby pacifier:  to protect teeth from the grinding caused by Ecstasy
  • Lollipops: to suck on, again to protect teeth from grinding
  • Vicks Vapor-rub:  to apply around nose and mouth to enhance Ecstasy’s effects
  • Bottled water:  to prevent dehydration from dancing
  • Glow-in-the-dark necklaces, pins, etc...: to enhance visual hallucinations
  • Skittles or M&M candies: to hide the drugs
Presence of either these physical symptoms or rave items could indicate club drug use. If you suspect
something, ask. You could be saving a life.
